Hi, I’m Kayla, the human behind Lake Life.

I’m a Kenosha local, lake person, creative overthinker, home baker, and someone who has always felt a little more like herself near the water.

Lake Michigan has been a safe place for me for as long as I can remember. It’s where I go to breathe, walk things out, reset, and remember that most things feel a little more manageable with fresh air and open water nearby.

Lake Life started as a creative outlet and slowly became something much more personal. It gave me a place to put my ideas, my feelings, my love for where I’m from, and the steadier life I’ve been building through sobriety.

After years of struggling with substances and mental health challenges, getting sober has been one of the hardest and most important choices I’ve made. It is a daily choice, and not always an easy one, but it has given me a new way to care for myself, move through hard things, and find more clarity, courage, and freedom than I ever expected.

These days, I find peace in yoga, reading, creating, time with my closest people, and being near the water. Lake Life is one way I carry that peace forward, and I’m grateful to share it with you.
